Ski Mountaineering in Altai Tavan Bogd Mountain, Mongolia
Between April 12 - 25, 2019, Italian 6 snowboarders and skiers and Mongolian 4 skiers came to Altai Tavan Bogd Mountain and do skiing and snowboarding.
Since last December 2018, it did not snow on the Altai mountains, however, on the days we were staying it snowed and the increasing wind speed caused a snowstorm. We skied 4 times from the Ulgii peak of the Altai Tavan Bogd and Spider Face Mountain when the weather was good.
Italian skiers taught the Mongolian staff on how to skiing and spent a fun time together at basecamp.
We set up a base camp at the winter base camp of the end of Potanin River. Our chef Tugsuu served delicious meals and made a pizza at the basecamp. In the beginning, the snow surface was hard and icy, though after the snow on the mountain it was suitable for skiing.
